The October issue of The Wire comes with a new edition of The Wire Tapper compilation CD, featuring an exclusive edit of a track off the new Gerritt Wittmer "Vessel" LP.
I love the adventure of moving between the portions of Hell. Very exciting changes and dynamics make this a compelling experience and a thoughtful, challenging work. It has revealed itself to me as an ultradynamic ritual and a fascinating contemporary experimental music masterpiece for 2010.
Inhaled balloon squish, exhaled incantations guttural deep fire, voice of the hellstorm.
Steeped in contrasts, the simple, mostly minimal, presentation is so endearingly complex and inviting. Rich, mucousy groans transforming sharply digital... Blown reeds and deep machinery idling. Compositional silence and silent storytelling. Insects chirp and buzz, the chains of Hell juxtapose well. Subtle and overwhelming. Pinball and puke.
Shock and cleanse.
Pondering a narrative to the audio while listening was an inescapable exercise, yet the recordings are perfectly lucid themselves... A fire burns in Gerritt's throat as he plucks his contact mic'ed teeth with fishing lines and orchestrates a restrained pyromaniac modern composition for dentistry and voice. (That's track 1).
The experience is unto itself. Well planned, well executed. Gorgeously presented. Detailed, high tolerance precision production; concise and commanding. Strange and beautiful.

Gerritt & John Wiese "Panoramic Glass and Mirror" LP
From beautiful northern and southern California comes the duo of Gerritt and John Wiese. Since the release of their first EP, The Disappearing Act ("unbearably intense" -The Wire), they have continued their live collaboration up and down the West Coast. Panoramic Glass And Mirror immerses the listener into a blend of sound layers, confronted with a melodic and haunting atmospheric approach while still retaining immense power. Side A was crafted from live recordings by John Wiese, while side B was produced from studio sessions by Daniel Voss (Leviathan, Lurker Of Chalice, Deathroes, Yellow Swans).
Limited edition of 400 clear vinyl, 100 black.

Last week I saw Shellac again at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. It was the second night of a 2 nighter and they performed an incredible set list! Nothing like a double header to bring out lots of obscurities and B-Sides. They blow me away everytime! Further proof that they are one of my all time favorite bands! Keep up the good work fellas!

Alright folks! Made it back from Hawaii, transitioning moderatley well. While I was away i managed to record a good amount of sound that Kaua'i had to offer. I am currently working on a new record with said sounds.
Also, in further news, many will be happy to know that Paul Knolwes and I will be continuing our "Great Work!" We have been working on a new piece that acts as a prequel to the original. We will be debuting this sometime in the next month or so in San Francisco. Also, we will be doing a full west coast tour of this show sometime later this summer! We are quite excited about this! Dates will be posted when available.
I am leaving in a few days for Hawaii! I will be celebrating my 30th birthday and recording a new record. I will be spending 2 weeks on the north shore of Kaua'i. I wont be back until early June. I hope to post some pictures upon my return. Wish me luck!
I had a great time at the Bay Area 51 show! Thanks so much to everyone who performed and who helped put it together!
Here are some pictures of Paul and I performing "The Great Work!". Taken by Soretooth Jon.

Dear enlightened individuals,
I am sorry I have not update this site in so long. I promise to you, from this day forward I will post here as much as I can.
I played a fun show here at Misanthropic Agenda recently. Howard Stelzer, Jim Haynes and myself. I havent done a solo set in years without a computer! Speaking of wich; my old power books logic board was fried in Gothenburg. So I opted to get a new macbook. When it comes to lappys I like them small, so a 13 inch replacement for my old 12 isnt so bad. I hope to be up and running again soon with more solo sets, and more DJ Gerritt sets!
Here are a few pictures of this past show. Many thanks to everyone involved and to Randy Yau for the images!
Just made it back home from the Deathroes tour. It feels SO good to be back! The tour was great and we meet so many great people. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us!
Incase you have been wondering why no updates? During sound check in Gothenburg my laptop died so i did the rest of the tour without it! I will be updating the site with the rest of the tours log entries when possible.
I had a killer salad for lunch at a cafe in Copenhagen. We sold some records to a local store and said goodbye to our friend Christian. On our drive to Gothenburg we took a ferry from Denmark to Sweden. It was really cold and windy and raining, the water just looked huge and faded into a gray horizon. We have arrived at Gothenburg just in time for the remaining jet lag to kick in. Time to sleep.
Day 2 in Copenhagen was fun. I got a chance to spend some time with our host Christian, he is a really great guy. He hooked us up with some records he has released including a Jazkamer LP I never heard of! I finally got some time to catch up on website updates. We went for a nice walk in a cool hippie style squat village called Christiania. It was pretty huge with bulidings that were once part of a military base and lots of houses people had built. We ate a good vegetarian meal in a restuarant in the village. Afterward we did a radio show with Christian for an hour were we played our records and talked about our tour. We are now going to head to Gothenberg to break up the drive to Oslo for our show tomorrow night. (Will be returning to Gothenberg for a show the next day.)

We played Copenhagen last night. It was a fun show in a rock club/bar venue. A mix of grindcore and noise acts filled out the bill. Three groups either had dead or death in their name, what are we trying to say guys? Everyone was really good. We had some weird power issues with our gear, so we didnt use the smoke, and the lights were really weird and dim, Hopefully it was just the power at the venue to blame and not some weird issue with our power converters etc... Time will tell.
Eveyone here is very friendly, looks like we will stay here another day before heading to Oslo for our next show.
We made it to Berlin!
After 20 hours total of travel, we are here and exhausted. The best flight experiance i have ever had is on Lufthansa Airlines. Seriously, the Germans know how to take care of you. The best flight attendants, working a 12 hour shift, constantly attentive, meals, and yes free drinks constantly!
Unfortunatly our luggage got beat pretty badly, but the gear seems all right.
We went to pick up our Volkswagon Golf to find we actually have a brand new Mercedes waiting for us, looks like were driving in style!
It is nice and overcast here, pretty chilly, time for some hot food and sleep. Tomorrow we drive to Copenhagen for our first show.
I am going to attempt some sort of tour diary here. Deathroes is heading out on our big European tour. We have info up about a good number of shows, but still quite a few are to be announced at: www.deathroes.com
